Ranold Hylton Obituary

A Life Begins: Ranold Franklin Hylton was born in Westmoreland, Jamaica on March 12, 1940 to the late Elisha Hylton and Adeline Fletcher-Hylton.  As a child, Ranold spend most of his time assisting his father with the family farm and helping with his siblings because he was the oldest son at home. Ranold relocated to Kingston Jamaica when he was 19 years old to live with his late sister, Dorothy Johnson.  He later pursued his education at the School of Business and General Education.  He also pursued vocational studies in carpentry.

He began his career as a Health Inspector (first job) with the Department of Health in Jamaica. Ranold continued his career in various industries. He spent several years as a manager at KIW International.  Just prior to relocating to the United States of America, he was a security manager at Mico Teachers College for ten years.  On February 10, 1993 he migrated to the USA.  His passion for personal ministry and love for his fellowmen, led him to pursue a career as a nurses’ assistant.  Ranold took and passed the State Board Examination with a 99% passing rate, upon his first attempt, and became a certified nursing assistant.

A Life of Love: In August 1973, his act of a single unpopular favor for a total stranger led him to the second love of his life, Beryl Rebertha Morgan. Of course, with God being his first love, this made the perfect union. Three months later, on November 25, 1973, they pledged their love for each other in holy matrimony. They were later blessed with two wonderful children:  Michelle Rose Hylton (daughter, 1975) and Vinroy Andrew Relando Hylton (Son, 1976).

Proceeded in death were two siblings- Ezekiel Hylton and Dorothy Johnson. Ranold leaves to mourn three sisters - Irene James (Canada), Daisy Reid (Jamaica) and Barbara Vassell (Jamaica); three brothers - Cyril Hylton (Jamaica), Phillip Hylton (Georgia, USA) and Roy Hylton (Georgia, USA); two grandchildren - Saliyah and Sarita Hylton; Eight in-laws: daughter-in-law - Daniella Hylton;  son-in-law - Hector Figueroa; sisters-in-law - Sandra Hylton, Greta Hylton and Irine Hylton; brothers-in-law - Leslie Roy James, Rupert Reid and Bobsie Vassell. He also leaves to mourn twenty-one nephews, fourteen nieces (including 68 wives and children) and a host of cousins, friends and church family.

A Life of Service: Ranold was actively involved in his church community.  He loved community outreach and missionary work. You would often hear him say that a church without an active outreach program is a dead church.  He boldly proclaimed the truth about the Gospel of Christ to whomever he came in contact with. At work he was called “the Preacher.” He was always seeking an audience to share the Word of God. Ranold faithfully served as an ordained deacon, Bible worker and lay activity leader. He was instrumental in community services and missionary outreach that led to the planting and development of three Seventh-day Adventist churches in Jamaica.  His favorite Bible verse was Psalm 119:165 - Great peace have they that love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.  With this, he was not easily offended. In the same token, he was very frank. He truly loved people, and wherever he went, he was always loved.  Just prior to Ranold’s passing, we were told that he was preaching to the nurses, staff and other patients at the hospital. This was very typical of Ranold.

A Life of Ends: Sadly, on September 30, 2016, Ranold Hylton was called to rest from his life of service, but the fruits of his work will live on.
