SHARON THOMAS

Sharon’s earthly journey began on August 14, 1963, in Kingston, Jamaica. The Lord decided that it was time for her to begin the ministry He prepared for her and thus she became a bundle of joy to her parents, the late Keith and Minel Thomas. Sharon is the second of five children. She went to the New Hope school for children with special needs.

Sharon was a natural caregiver. While in Jamaica, she took excellent care of her father, grandmother, aunt, and uncle during their illnesses. She also babysat for family and friends. She was faithful and reliable in her duties to her extended family members until the time of her migration to the United States in 2013 to be with her sisters.

The Lord allowed Sharon to be born with a disability which He used through her to enhance his kingdom of heaven. Because of that disability, Sharon maintained a childlike mind which allowed her to see and do things that typically people wouldn't do. Sharon attended Mt. Olive and Plymouth Sorrento Seventh-day Adventist churches during her time here in the United States. During welcoming time at church, where she loved to be, she would go around and shake almost everyone's hand. Because of her childlike innocence, everyone was her friend or became her friend. One reason may be because Sharon forgave easily and did not hold grudges. Even some of her sister's close friends became her close friends, which made her feel extra special. Sharon loved the Lord and was not afraid to tell those with whom she came in contact.

Sharon also took pleasure in going for walks, dressing up, going shopping, and participating in potluck. Perhaps, however, her favorite thing to do was to be with family and friends, especially on special occasions. Sharon was very neat, organized, and meticulous about what she did. She also liked to operate according to a time schedule.

She enjoyed receiving gifts as well as giving them. Once when she had only $20 to her name, she gave it to her nephew Joshua for his birthday. It made her happy. Sharon was also an excellent domino player; just ask Horace, her brother-in-law, whom she beat many times.

Without any warning or signs, Sharon became seriously ill. It was during this time that she decided to recommit her life to Christ through baptism and holy communion. During her illness with her family by her side, the Lord helped Sharon to find peace and comfort in knowing that Jesus has prepared a place for her. On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, Sharon went to sleep knowing that soon in the morning she would see her sweet Jesus face to face.

She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, her sisters Yvonne (Horace) and Juliett (Mike), brother Devon, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends.

We pray that Sharon’s memory will be an eternal blessing. Let us who remain be of good cheer and press on in righteousness. Let's keep the faith and finish the race, because He who began a good work in us is faithful to complete it. Rest, Sissy; we’ll see you in the morning
