Obituary Dorothy Priscilla Boone
On May 4, 1964, Dorothy Priscilla Ashley was born in Miami, Florida to Eddie and Mary Ashley. She was the second of four children blessed to this union. Cilla, as she was affectionately called, was raised in a loving and faithful Christian home and so lived her life in the same way, as a follower of Jesus Christ. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 121:1, 2 — “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” Cilla learned how to lean on the Lord as she grew in wisdom.
Priscilla was blessed to receive her Christian education from Miami Bethany Kindergarten, Miami Union Academy, and Greater Miami Academy. In June 1988, she received her Bachelor of Science degree from Oakwood College (now Oakwood University) in Huntsville, Alabama and in August of 2012, she received her Master of Business Administration degree in Healthcare Management from American InterContinental University.
She became a baptized member of the Miami Bethany SDA Church, in 1973. While there, she was an usher as well as a member of the Pathfinder Club and church choir. She was actively involved in the youth ministries of Miami Bethany Church. In 1989, she became a dedicated member of the Patmos Chapel SDA Church in Winter Park, FL where she held the positions of church clerk, deaconess, choir director and minister of music.
As Minister of Music, Priscilla demanded perfection. Because of her
love for music, she brought a different persona and life to the choir. Because of her love and respect for God, she made sure the dress code
for anyone performing on the platform was appropriate. She brought a style to communion services that incorporated music from various groups and individuals.
Priscilla began working for the Southeastern Conference of Seventhday Adventist in the Publishing Department in July 1988. Her job responsibilities, job titles and job positions varied until she became ill and had to stop working in April of 2017.
She was a strong woman, a beautiful person with a positive attitude and spirit about everything. Priscilla was a great competitor and had a love for sports and games. She related well to other people. Her home was always filled with friends and family with whom she loved to fellowship.
On May 17, 1998, she married the love of her life, Dell Boone. The love generated from this union was lavishly bestowed upon their children: Derrick Boone, De’Niqua Bright (Boone) and Deondra Boone.
After many years of service to both God and her fellowman, on Monday, January 1, 2018, she closed her eyes to rest after a long struggle with cancer.
She leaves her legacy of love to her loving husband, Dell Boone; their children: Derrick, De’Niqua and Deondra; her father Eddie Ashley, Sr. and mother Mary Ashley; her grandmother, Nelvine Thompson; her siblings, Eddie (Cassandra) Ashley, Jr., Deborah (James) Bennett and Erik Ashley, Sr.; her brothers-in-law: Robert (Ann) Boone, Gregory (Ernestine) Boone, Tony (Shealena) Boone, Wayne Boone, Demetrius Boone; sisters-in-law: Sandra Alvarez, Joyce (Frank) Dean, Lorraine (James) Burgess, Emily (Johnny) Bell, Wendy George, Bresha (Samyr) Pironneau, Virdee Boone (deceased); her aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
