Barbara Metz was born on October 17, 1936, in Charleston, West Virginia, Barbara was born to the late Nora and Glenn Dotson. She lived a life marked by dedication, compassion, and love for her family and community.

Barbara earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Florida and later received her master's degree from the University of Central Florida. She devoted 36 years of her life to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher with Lake County Schools. Her career in education reflected her patience, kindness, and commitment to children and learning. She retired in 2011, leaving behind a lasting impact on countless students, colleagues, and families.

Outside of her professional life, Barbara found joy in gardening, relaxing in the pool, and making cherished memories with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and presence will be deeply missed.

Barbara is survived by her children, James (Beth) Metz, Nora Metz, John (Christine) Metz, and Chelsea Metz; her grandchildren, Craig Metz, Laura Kirkland, Jordan Cody, her fur babies, Pink and Winter and her sister, Geraldine Shank.

Barbara Metz passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Vicki Metz.

Barbara's life was one of love, service, and devotion to those she held dear. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
