Edith Brown Obituary Story of Edith T. Browns Life Edith Theodora Brown (nee Bromfield) was born on March 31st, 1932 to parents Felix and Helen Bromfield (nee Falloon) in Swift River, Portland, Jamaica. Being the fifth of siblings: Vincent, Milton, Agnes (Peggy), Cecil, Leroy, and John; "Meggy" grew up a joyful, quiet, and family-oriented young girl. She attended high school in Hope Bay, Portland before excelling to pursue secretarial science at West Indies College. During her undergraduate studies, Edith met, fell in love with, and married the late Victor Oliver Brown, Sr., after which she accompanied him throughout his pastoral commitments in Eastern Jamaica and the Caicos Islands Mission. The couple returned to West Indies College in 1966, where they both completed their degrees. Edith began secretarial work with the Eastern Jamaica Conference before deciding to devote her time to raising a healthy Christian family. She birthed Victor Oliver "Monty" Brown, Charmain HOPE Brown Anderson, Melody DAWN Brown Golaub, and Hortencia "Tensie" ROSE Brown Clayton (deceased). Her commitment to family was so great that she discontinued serving with the Conference until her youngest was 6 years of age. The family migrated to the United States during the late 1970s, where Edith began working in the nursing profession. After leading a successful career, she retired then continued to raise her children and grandchildren, often having a house packed with childrens voices and laughter. Edith was surrounded by the love and comfort of family members when she was called by our Lord and Savior on March 14th, 2017. She leaves to mourn: sister Agnes; brothers Dr. Cecil and Leroy; children Monty, Charmain, and Melody; grandchildren Damon, Cheriese, Krystle, Lauren (and Lincoln), Jewel, Kendra (and Nigel), Welton, Laurence, Chadwick, Candyss, Karita, Leah, and Landon; great granddaughter, Noah; in-laws; and a host of other relatives and friends.
