Obituary

Leonard Wilson Obituary Leonard Archie Wilson was born on December 8, 1951 in Kingston, Jamaica to Leonard Nathaniel Wilson and Althea Ulrica Wilson. He was the fourth child of eight beautiful children. Raised in a Christian home, the family attended the North Street Seventh-day Adventist church in Kingston, Jamaica. After deciding to seek a better life and more opportunities for their family, Althea and Leonard left Jamaica as part of the Windrush generation and migrated to Nottingham, England in 1952 with their four children: Sonia Jean Mountain (Wilson), Ryan Glenmore Wilson, and Yvonne Allen (Wilson). Archie was only one year old at the time. His parents purchased their first home in England and added four more children to the family: Vanessa Althea Wilson, Dennis Oliver Wilson, Timothy Vaughan Wilson, and George Amos Wilson. The first school Archie attended in Nottingham was Lady Bay Primary School and then Musters Road Secondary School. He was very active in sports and successful in scholastic achievements. After years of living in England, his parents decided to move back to Jamaica in the 1960's to enjoy a warmer climate. In pursuit of higher education, Archie attended Hostos College (a division of NYU), and Taylor Business Institute. As a young man, Archie enjoyed working with his hands, and discovered the love for making jewelry. The ability to work with his hands led him to work as an apprentice with Mundell Jewelry store in Kingston, Jamaica, where he developed the skill for jewelry making and design. Over the course of his life, he worked at Hartall Casting Manufacturers in Pennsylvania for a few years. Over time, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to focus on building his own business Fine Art Jewelry, a business he owned and operated for 36 plus years, which reflected his unique creativity in making and designing jewelry. For the entirety of his career, he became an important, experienced, and reliable business owner in his community, loved by his many customers and colleagues throughout the years. After retiring from Fine Art Jewelry, Archie and his wife, Ernestine, moved to Winter Garden, Florida and subsequently to Clermont, Florida, to pursue a quieter life in a warmer climate. \When he lived in Jamaica, Archie met the 'love of his life', Ernestine Wilson, while attending West Indies College High School. After a few years, Archie migrated to the United States in 1975 to Detroit, Michigan for a few months, then moved to Brooklyn, New York. The couple had a strong bond as young adults and after a few years of courtship, they got married on February 23, 1975. From this union came two children: son, Leonard Marc, and daughter, Jacqueline Dianne (Jackie). For several years, the couple enjoyed traveling and sharing everything together, from activities, cooking, and raising a family. Because of the relationship between the couple, traditions and memories were established that shaped their childrens and grandchildrens lives.
