Obituary

Michael Aaron Bennett

1966 – 2026

Michael Aaron Bennett, 59, passed from this world leaving behind a story worth telling in full — one of resilience, hard work, quiet brilliance, and a tenderness for the people he loved most.

From the time he was young, Michael carried a burden that most people will never understand. A physical deformity drew stares and cruel words from strangers, and far too often, those encounters turned into confrontations he never asked for. Life handed him a harder road than most, and in trying to quiet the weight of that pain, he made choices that cost him — time, health, and years he deserved to have back. But those choices were never the whole of who he was. They were detours in a life that held so much more.

Michael was a working man at heart. He picked up a hammer and started doing construction and acoustical ceiling work around the age of 14, and he never stopped. He was dependable, reliable, and trustworthy — the kind of man you could count on to show up and do the job right. Those who worked alongside him knew that about him.

He was also a poet. Michael had a gift for language and used it to honor the woman he loved most in the world — his mother — publishing a poem in her name, one of several works he brought into the world through his writing. There was a depth to Michael that not everyone got to see, but it was always there.

In his final chapter, Michael was surrounded by the small, intimate, and fiercely loving family who claimed him fully and without condition: his sisters Rhonda and Desiree, his brother-in-law Andy, his nephews Anthony, Troy, and Cameron, his great-nephews Dylan and Keegan, and Becky, a dear and longtime friend to the family. He came home to them, and they were glad to have him.

Michael Aaron Bennett did not have an easy life. But he was loved. He was seen. And he will be deeply missed.
