Monica McKenzie, a beloved wife, mother, sister, friend, devoted woman of faith, and cherished member of her community, passed away on July 7, 2026, in Kissimmee, Florida. She was 81 years old.

Monica was born on January 17, 1945, in St. Ann, Jamaica. On July 5, 1966, she married Clive Noel McKenzie and lovingly embraced his daughter, Claudette Angela McKenzie, as her own. Soon after, the family immigrated to Queens, New York, where Monica began building a life full of purpose and service. Driven by a deep desire to help others, Monica studied to become a Certified Nursing Assistant and went on to work at Booth Memorial Hospital in Flushing, New York. The couple welcomed their son, Wayne Noel, followed by their daughter, Paulette Andrea McKenzie.

In 1984, the family relocated to Kissimmee, Florida, where Monica continued her career in nursing before eventually retiring from the field. Never one to slow down, Monica began an exciting new chapter as a Disney Cast Member, a role that perfectly suited her bright and energetic personality. Over the course of 30 years, Monica worked in three Disney parks, touching countless lives with her warmth and genuine love for helping people.

Monica possessed a remarkable ability to sense when someone needed her help, and she never hesitated to extend a hand. She had a generous heart and freely shared with anyone in need. Her legendary green thumb produced bountiful gardens, and she delighted in giving away fruits and vegetables to neighbors, friends, and anyone who crossed her path. She also loved to travel, finding joy in exploring new places and experiencing the world around her. Monica volunteered her time freely, finding deep fulfillment in service to others.

Above all, Monica was a faithful woman who loved the Lord and dedicated her life to Christ. She treasured her church family at House of the Nations and found great joy in worship, fellowship, and serving alongside them. Her generosity, her passion for life, and her unwavering faith left an indelible mark on every life she touched.

Monica is preceded by her mother, Venetia Senior Black; father, Aston Lloyd Black; beloved grandmother, Ada Senior; brothers, Tony, Richard "Clive" and Vernon "Arthur" Black; sister Florence Black.

Monica is survived by her husband of 60 years, Clive; her son, Wayne (Shannon) McKenzie; her daughters, Paulette (Ovied IV) McKenzie-Lacy, Claudette “Angela” McKenzie; grandchildren, Monique McKenzie, Maika McKenzie, Adeen McKenzie-Kennedy, Jasmine McKenzie, Lyndon "Greg" Wade II, Angelle McKenzie, Malikai McKenzie, and Ovied "Cinco" Lacy V; great-granddaughter, Leila Marie Williams.

Brothers: Clement "Lloyd" Black, Lenworth "Lee" (Cynthia) Black, Frederick "Feddy" Black, Leroy "Junior" (Dawn) Black, Herman "Byron" Black, and Patrick (Latasha) Black. Sisters: Valerie "Desireen" Williams, Hermine (Winston) Davis, and Linda "Beverly" (Pharant "Deacon") Thompson; Aunt: Clarise Chisholm; and a loving extended family and community who will carry her memory in their hearts.

Viewing will be held on Friday, July 24, at 11:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 p.m. at House of the Nations Church (formerly Catalyst Community Church), officiated by Pastor Joel Aviles. Interment will follow at Osceola Memory Gardens, with a Repast immediately afterward.

In honor of Monica's vibrant spirit and the joy she brought to so many lives, the family warmly invites guests to wear bright, cheerful colors as we celebrate her life.
