Mr. Jeffrey Oliver Obituary Legacy of Life Jeffrey D. Oliver, son of John Jasper Sr. and Shirley Oliver, was born on October 24, 1960 in Port Chester, New York. Jeffrey was affectionately known as 'Jeff' to family and friends, to his colleagues as "Jo-liver" and to his grandchildren as 'Papa.' Upon graduating from Port Chester High School, Jeff immediately enlisted in the United States Army. His time in the military led him to Germany where he discovered his passion for Information Technology. After returning home from the military, Jeff served in the Army Reserves and began working for AT&T in the mailroom in 1981. Two years later he married his childhood sweetheart, Lisa Ellis Oliver. Shortly after their union, Jeff and Lisa welcomed two daughters before moving to Independence, Missouri where they welcomed their third daughter. After years of relocating to further his career with AT&T, Jeff, along with his family, settled in Oviedo, Florida in 1996. Jeffrey was a very dedicated father who loved his girls unconditionally. Jeff adored his two grandchildren. "Papa" and "Nana's" house was known as the fun house where the grandchildren would spend their weekends with no rules...just fun! Jeffrey was a lively and energetic man who enjoyed running, basketball, golf, cycling, jazz music, and the movie, 'Daddy's Little Girls.' He was also a devoted New York Knicks and Dallas Cowboys fan. Jeffrey joined Mount Zion Baptist Church in Port Chester, New York at an early age and was an active member in the Boy Scouts. After rededicating his life to Christ, Jeff and Lisa joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Oviedo. Jeffrey epitomized the importance of hard work and education to his children and many others he mentored. Jeff truly believed 'The road to success comes through hard work, determination, and sacrifice.' Leading by example, Jeff furthered his education receiving his Master of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems in 2000. Through his hard work and dedication, he retired from AT&T as Senior Director of Information Technology after 32 years. On July 7, 2014, Jeffrey Darnell Oliver, departed this world's existence and passed on to eternal life. He was loved by his family and friends. His smile, laughter, words of wisdom, and fist pumps will be missed by all. Ethel Belinda "Wanda" Oliver-White, Jeff's sister, preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his fondest memories; His wife, Lisa Ellis Oliver; three daughters - Jelisse, Krystal and Cheron; two grandchildren - Analisse and Jonovan; his parents - John Jasper Sr. and Shirley Oliver; one brother - John J. Oliver Jr. from Cortlandt Manor, NY); two sisters - Debra Oliver and Priscilla Oliver both from Port Chester, NY); brother in-laws, sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
