Mr. Thomas Manns Obituary Mr. Thomas Manns, age 91 of Orlando, Florida, passed away on May 18, 2014.
Thomas Manns was born in Gainesville, Florida to the late Charles G. and Louise Manns. He was the youngest of nine children, and he never hesitated to say his father was a "well-known preacher!" There in Gainesville, Thomas matriculated through school, and eventually began his career as part owner and driver for Wenck Equipment Company. He traveled across the country for over 35 years and he loved it. Thomas can still be remembered driving up to his sister Mable's home in his large 18 wheeler, hopping down with his cigar in his mouth, a huge grin and that amazing sparkle in his eyes.
Though Thomas spoke often of his work at Wenck Equipment Company, his true passion was fishing. He, though he could not swim, loved being on the water, and would spend hours fishing on the lakes in Miami, Orlando, Kissimmee and surrounding areas. Thomas caught and sold his own fish at his fish store in Miami. Lines would form around the corner waiting to purchase his top of the line catch. He longed to go fishing again, and promised anyone who came to visit that he would take them out on his boat the next time they came. Even after moving to Kissimmee, Florida in his late 80's, Thomas continued to go fishing, and is well-known in the area for his expertise.
Thomas' final months were spent in Orlando living with his niece, Martha (better known as "Marthann") Walker (Donald), and being cared for with the help of her son Darrell Lewis.
Thomas was preceded in death by his wife Gwendolyn; He leaves to mourn his two adopted sons; Roderick (Elizabeth), Willie (Barbara); Three Granddaughters, Rashelle, Yvonne (Thelbert) and Terry (John); Four Grandson, Roderick Jr. ( Nabrisha ), Ronard, Rashad, and Allen; Nine Great-grandchildren; One great-great-granddaughter; and a large family of nieces, nephews, grand, great, great-great & great-great-great grand nieces and nephews. Thomas will be greatly missed!!!
