Nicolas Ortiz (Nicky) was born on June 8,1955, in New York City, New York. He was a proud Puerto Rican.
Nicky was a man of many jokes and pranks. His love for his heritage and sports shaped every part of his life. He was an avid fan of New York sports, holding a special place in his heart for the New York Mets, his rival the New York Yankees, the New York Knicks, and the New York Jets. He lived and breathed them up until the very end watching ESPN, and cheering on his teams whether if they were winning or losing.
Nicky also carried with him the rich culture and traditions of Puerto Rico, always proud of his roots and never missing a chance to display or share any stories. He found joy in making jokes or pulling pranks on people. He was known for his sense of humor. Before his retirement, he was a sheet metal engineer and was a valued hard worker .
His memory will live on in the countless lives he touched, and in every sports game watched with passion.
Nicky we will miss you, but we will carry you with us always, as we root for your favorite teams and remember your humor and endless pranks. Rest in peace, proud Puerto Rican, devoted fan, loving son, and uncle.
