Obituary

Pastor Antonio Assent Obituary A Legacy Begins Pastor Antonio Assent, affectionately known as "Tony", was born on the beautiful island of Nevis WI, known as "Queen of the Caribees", on April 15, 1940, to the late Marjorie Assent and Ernest Warner. As a child he was incredibly involved in church, as he was third generation Seventh Day Adventist: it was then that his relationship with the Lord began. The importance of family, and aiding others was instilled in him these early years, as he developed close relationships with siblings, family members, and friends. He also had an inherent love for music, which was encouraged through church and piano lessons at an early age, and remained an essential part of his life. It even inspired him to learn how to play the violin as an adult (after age 50). Among other talents, he participated in dramas, fishing, sailing and most significantly gardening- his absolute favorite pastime hobby. In 1958, he immigrated to New York, and upon completing high school, he attended City University of New York, School of Mechanical Dentistry, to become a skilled Orthodontic Technician. He began his successful career at age 21. He excelled in his craft and his assistance was often requested during patient visits to discuss options for dental care and appliances. He was then inspired to start his own business and Excelsior Orthodontic Laboratory was born. During this time, he married Elvira Brown. He later moved to New Jersey and married Maureen Jackson known as (Sandie). As the bible says, "Happy is the man that has his quiver full." Happy, he truly was as he was blessed with eight children. He moved to Florida in 1981, where he continued his successful career and enjoyed working alongside his brother Vinny. Later, he and Sandie established two businesses in Orlando and Winter Park: The Silver Chimes Retirement Center and Mini Skool Day Care center. In his spare time, he cultivated his garden and generously shared with others that piqued an interest in any of his plants. Tony leaves his wife Sandie to cherish his loving memory. His children Lorraine Cavanaugh (Delando), June Gordon (Robert), Karen Leblanc (Matt), Velma Johnson (Glenford), Merlin Assent (Stephanie), Adrian Assent (Amanda), Antoinette Howell (Montel), Brian Assent (Caroline).
