RYAN WIGGAN Obituary Ryan O'neil Wiggan, affectionately known as "Bobby", was born on September 2, 1970, in Kingston, Jamaica to Pamela Excell and the late Neville Barrington Wiggan. At the tender age of seven years old, Ryan lost his father tragically and was raised by his mother, Pamela, and his grandmother, Milworth Brown.
As a child, Ryan first attended St. Mary's Academy and then Dunrobin primary school where he attained a full scholarship to Jamaica College. Ryan was recognized as the youngest student in his first year enrolled there.
Through the influence and encouragement of his grandmother, he attended the Central Village Seventh-day Adventist Church and was baptized at the age of ten years old. Ryan loved going to church where he was nurtured and loved by his grandmother and cousin Jennifer, who was more of a big sister to him.
Ryan loved cooking and was always happy to help anyone who was in the kitchen that day. At seven years old, when questioned why he was in the kitchen, he would say, "modern men assist in the kitchen." Later he became known as an exceptional cook by his family as he would create dishes with love and bake cakes for them on each birthday.
In April of 1983, Ryan and his sister Sandy, migrated to the United States at the age of twelve. He first attended the First Ephesus SDA Church in Hollywood, Florida, and later became a member of the Mount Pisgah SDA Church in Carol City, Florida. Soon he attained his Associate of Science Degree in Nursing and was employed at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Miami, Florida, as a registered nurse. Later, he went on and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing at Florida Gateway College in the Fall of 2023 while working at the Florida Department of Corrections as a regional nursing auditor.
One Sabbath evening, while visiting a youth program at a neighboring Adventist church, Ryan got a glimpse of a young lady named Yvonne from afar and said to his cousin Jennifer, "She is beautiful,n and I am going to marry her." He asked his cousin for her number, and received it, but for some reason, he did not get around to calling her. However, Ryan was given a second opportunity at true love when Sister Jacqueline Waldon, his Mt. Pisgah Youth Choir Director and Pastors wife, formally introduced Yvonne to Ryan at a youth function. From that moment on, they started courting, which led to their marriage in 1996. To this union they bore five beautiful children - Rayan, Sarah, Allison, Oniel and Stephen.
In 2000, Ryan and his family relocated to Fort White, Florida and attended several local SDA churches before settling at the Live Oak SDA Church, where he became the lay pastor for the last nineteen years. There he bonded with the church family and participated in Vacation Bible School(VBS), church picnics, fundraisers, Christmas and Thanksgiving banquets, weddings, and other special events.
In 2008, Ryan became an active global missionary, traveling to Peru, Chile, Nicaragua, Panama, and Jamaica using his nursing skills and spreading the message of Gods love for His children and the Advent Message. He used this opportunity to bring and encourage friends and family on these trips whenever possible.
Ryan was a family man; he loved taking trips and traveling with his wife and children as often as possible. He would wrestle his children with kisses and tickles. Often there was the sound of laughter and screams as he would chase them around the kitchen with a cup of water or ice to splash them with showers of love. He was also known as a father to those he was not related to. He often stated that he had many adopted children and endeavored to express his fatherly affection to them.
Ryan was preceded in death by his father - Neville Barrington Wiggan; his grandmother - Milworth Brown; his aunt Marcia Bartley; his uncle-in-law Antonio Bartley, Sr.; and his cousins Antonio Bartley, Jr. and Liston Bartley.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his devoted and loving wife - Yvonne; his daughters - Rayan, Sarah, and Allison; his sons - Oniel and Stephen; his mother - Pamela Excell; his sisters - Sandra Wiggan McCurvin and Keelia "Sandy" Wiggan (Nathan) Shortridge; his brother - Donovan "Billy" Wiggan; his uncle - Gladstone (Michelle) Excell; his cousins - Janel, Joshua, Jennifer, Donna, Sheila, Sandra and Sheryl; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; his neighbor - Willa and Micheal Christiani; and a host of other relatives, friends, church family members, and co-workers. This father and man of God will be greatly missed.
