Danielle Marie Willis departed this life on January 30, after a long illness. She blessed this world with her entry on September 30, 1963 in New Britain, CT to parents William and Helyn (Hudson) Willis. Some of her closest family and friends fondly called her Dani.
Danielle gave her life to Christ while a member of Spottswood AME church. She was actively involved in the youth and children’s department as well as a member of the choir. As a child and young adult, Danielle was involved in a number of civic and social organizations in Connecticut such as Junior Achievement, Who’s Who Among High School Students and a member of her high school’s SGA. As an avid swimmer, she developed a love and became proficient at water ballet while taking classes at the local YWCA. She played the violin and the piano.
After high school, Danielle took classes at a few institutions including Central Community State College. She loved numbers and did some work in that field; but she would tell you that her greatest love was her son, Denzel Alexander Willis. Eventually, they relocated to Florida, where she continued taking classes. She earned certificates and degrees in accounting and as an office assistant. She began working for the City of Orlando as a clerk. During tax season, she worked with H & R block. She also worked at Goodwill, in their rehabilitation department, providing computer training to those seeking to re-enter the work force. She loved what she did, and remained in this role until her health began to decline.
Danielle was an extremely strong woman, who endured declining health for some time. Preceding her in death were parents, William Willis, Helyn (Hudson) Willis, and brother William H. Willis, Jr. (Chipper). She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Denzel A. Willis, daughter-in-law Caitlin, two precious grandsons Tison and Kaden; sisters Elizabeth Willis, Sharon (Elijah) Mobley; nieces Marquita (James) Parrish, Melanie (Rodney) Brown, Destynee Mobley, Laylah Mobley; great nieces Grace, Sydney, Sophie; great nephew Ryan and a host of close “Aunties” – Ruby Lee Coleman, Nancy Lee Hudson, Sandra Johnson, Delia Adams; cousins, and friends.
Danielle will be greatly missed. But her Heavenly Father decided it was time to let her rest. A celebration of life to honor Danielle will be held on Saturday, February 25th, at 11:00 am. at WALDON Funeral Home, 3560 Plymouth Sorrento Road, Apopka, Florida, 32712.
