Pastor Gordon came to Hanson Place Church in 1970 and when he left four years later, we were in a better place because as a relatively new congregation we needed his experience and father-like figure.
During his tenure, our congregation grew exponentially as a result of baptisms from several Week of Prayer series and evangelistic efforts; he was instrumental in us purchasing a disaster relief vehicle; and he started initiatives in the community, for example, what was called “an ambitions outreach program” with the Brooklyn Men’s House of Detention to rehabilitate prison inmates.
As a church leader Pastor Gordon had vision and exemplary leadership skills; as a shepherd, Pastor Gordon cared for his members and fed them spiritually with memorable sermons.
Pastor Gordon left an indelible mark in Hanson Place Church history. Thank you, Sis Gordon for sharing your husband who was a remarkable man of God with us.
