HAROLD MAJOR Obituary

Harold “Lloyd” Major, Beloved Patriarch, Remembered for a Life Well-Lived

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lloyd Major, the patriarch of our family, who left this world on November 12, 2023. He was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and love, and his legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born in Miami, Florida, Lloyd lived a remarkable 84 years filled with purpose, passion, and an unwavering commitment to his family. He was a devoted husband, loving and supportive father, doting grandfather, caring brother, supportive uncle, cherished cousin, confidante, and trusted advisor to many. His journey was marked by a profound sense of responsibility, generosity, and a genuine concern for the well-being of others. Whether offering a piece of advice or sharing a heartfelt story, Lloyd had a remarkable ability to impart wisdom with grace, humility, and humor.

Family gatherings were his joy, and he reveled in creating lasting memories with his loved ones. A lifelong learner, Lloyd had passion for scripture study, photography, jazz, and foreign cars. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others and his positivity was contagious.

In his professional life, he excelled as a social worker, pastor, and community organizer. His dedication, work ethic, and leadership were inspiring to all who knew him. He retired at 57 and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life – spending time with family, sharing stories, and imparting wisdom to his family and friends.

Lloyd leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, reminding us of all of the importance of embracing life fully. His spirit will forever linger in the stories we tell and the love we continue to share. As we mourn this loss, we find solace in the enduring impact he has had on our lives.

Lloyd leaves to mourn: his wife of 62 years, Betty; daughter, Kimra Major-Morris (Kwami); sons, Anthony and Clark (Nichola); grandsons, Lloyd and Clark, II; granddaughters, Sadé, Niara, and Melissa; great-grandsons, Clark III and Carson; brothers, Louis, Horatio, Malcolm, David, Philip, and Jason; sisters, Antoinette, Louisa; brother-in-law, William, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. His brothers Frankie and Ronald, and sisters Claudette, Delores, Lana, and Brendaldette predeceased him.

A celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held on November 19, 2023, at Waldon Professional Funeral & Cremation Services at 11am.
