Michael Nypower Obituary

Michael “Mickey” David Nypower  , age 46,  passed away peacefully in his sleep February 6, 2020.  Born January 25, 1974 to David and Tess Nypower in Hawaiian Gardens, California.  They moved to West Jordan, Utah in 1975.  Michael enjoyed playing soccer, basketball and bowling, but his true love was boating, waterskiing and wakeboarding and in winter snowboarding.

Michael moved to Boulder City, Nevada as a junior in high school.  He graduated with honors from Boulder City High School, earning his letter with the Track and Field team in Shotput and Javelin.  After graduation, he entered the United States Army and was a Blackhawk helicopter mechanic in the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

After his time in the service, Michael worked in the Sales and Telemarketing field for many years.  He then worked alongside his dad, David, for 11 years building Guardian Transport.  Michael loved working with his Dad and helping at risk youth.

Michael headed to Florida and found the place his heart called home.  He started his own poker business and loved every minute of it.

Michael made friends where ever he went.  He considered them his family.  They fondly called him “Mickey”, or “Mouse” because of his great love of all things Disney.  Mickey loved his friends, sharing his bright smile, huge loving heart, his passion for life and adventure and his authenticity.  If you needed him, he was there for you whether it was moving huge furniture or providing a comforting shoulder to cry on.

Michael was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, cousin, grandson and friend.  He spent hours on the boat teaching others to wakeboard.  He wanted to share his passion for life with his nieces, nephews and friends.  He delighted in showing the teens that Uncle Mike could still handle a wakeboard!

Michael left this world to join his grandparents, his Dad, David Lewis Nypower and his Aunt, Judy Nypower McCullough.  He is survived by his Mother, Tess Meacham Nypower, brothers Joshua Nypower (Jenn Croft) and Timothy Nypower, sisters Janna Nypower Simanu, Danielle (John) Carlson, and Bridget (Reid) Basinger, 8 nieces and nephews and a large extended family and friends around the world.

A Wake celebrating his life will be held on February 29th, 2020 at the San Tropez Community Clubhouse, 11747 Siracus Drive, South Jordan, Utah from 4:30pm to 8:00pm.  There will be a party in his honor at a later date in Orlando Florida hosted by friends.
