Sr. Damas Prophete, born Wilna Jean Baptiste, passed away on February 27, 2024, at the age of 89. A native of Trou-du-Nord, Haiti, Wilna was a dynamic and ambitious young woman who excelled in all her endeavors. As a young entrepreneur she owned her own retail store allowing her to provide for her family's needs. Seeking a brighter future for her and her family, she later moved to America to start a new life. Wilna was a strict, disciplined, and a no-nonsense mother, who still had fun from time to time and always prioritized being there for her children and grandchildren in times of need. She had a special love for children, with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren holding a cherished place in her heart. Wilna was also a beloved member of her local church community in Orlando, Florida (Beracha 1 & 2), known for her unwavering love and devotion to God until her final moments. Predeceased by her husband, Damas Prophete, she is survived by her daughters, Jeannette and Miantha; grandchildren, Gipson (Sorina), Sanaah, Samarah, and Kelvin; great-grandchildren, Adalyne and Bryson; sister, Gramany; and brother-in-law, Jacques Eugene (Venia), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Wilna's legacy of love and devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest now and find peace.
