Velda Anita Hewitt was born in beautiful Barbados, West Indies on August 10, to the late Doris M. Trotman and Stanley E. Trotman. She was educated in Kent, England as a Registered Nurse and continued her education and employment in the United States of America.
In 1984, tired of the snow & ice in New Jersey, Velda moved to sunny Casselberry, Florida with her husband, Ralph and daughter, Carol. Velda worked at Orange County Corrections, 33rd Street jail until she retired in the summer of 2005. She enjoyed spending time with her family and church family, traveling, and working with the Southern Chapter of The Globally Commission Evangelist Ministry. As a loyal and dedicated member of Mt. Sinai, she worked in several ministries including: First Impressions (Greeters), King’s Daughters Orlando Chapter 1, Deaconesses, Senior Citizens Ministry, Ushers, and Federated Ushers.
On June 28, 2021, Velda Anita Hewitt fell asleep in Jesus where she awaits the Master’s call. Velda was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Hewitt and brothers Keith Trotman and Stephen Trotman. She is survived by her son Michael Trotman (Patricia) of Cary, NC; daughter Carol Anita Hewitt (Glen) of Orlando, FL; brother, Winston Trotman (Vern) of St. Phillips, Barbados; sisters, Joan Shockness of New York, NY; Marva Trotman of Brooklyn, NY; Angela Trotman of Hayward, CA; Margaret Deochan of Brooklyn, NY; Beverly Bannister (Robert) of Long Island, NY; Mary Weekes of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren Michael Trotman, April Trotman, and Simone Trotman; nieces Seeta Deochan, Shamika Weekes, Vern Trotman, and Nicole Trotman; nephews Orlando Trotman, Quentin Joseph, Kevin Weekes, and Kerwin Weekes; and a host of more nieces, nephews, cousins, great-grand nieces and nephews.
